Happy Halloween!

My pumpkin (not terribly creative, but I was in a rush.

C's pumpkin. He tried a haunted house, but it got too wacky, so he did a funky face on the other side. :)

Things to love...

Handsome husband who cracks me up daily...

Fuzzy dogs who like to fetch.

Adorable owl earrings from a very sweet friend.

Big shiny blue trucks...

Mirror Project

I bought this mirror at a rummage sale for $3.

I spray painted it black and put it with my montage in the living room. The painting is from a friend of C's. He does amazing work. The frogs are mine and the picture is a autographed photo of Lurlene the Trailer Court Queen.

It's a pretty skull!

I dig this the most! What a cute tee!! I'd also like to have a bumper sticker with this skull for my truck.... This is also from RainbowSwirlz. :)

More Owl Goodness

Monday, October 27, 2008

An adorable bag from RainbowSwirlz.

We had a bonfire Sat. and it was a blast, but I forgot to take pics. Doh!! I'm so fortunate to have such a great group of friends. C's sister was here too. She is an amazing woman. She's SO independent, amazing with animals, tremendously sweet and a great cook. She made a white peach cobbler this weekend that was a little slice of heaven. So good to see you J!!

Precious

J took the munchkins trick or treating at a nursing home. Aren't they adorable?? I love that E's a skunk. He remembers me saying to him once, "P.U. you stink!" and he still finds that hilarious a year or so later, so you can see why he might enjoy being a skunk for a day.

My other nephew was to be a parrot and his parents were going to be pirates, but when he realized he was going to be something different he changed his mind about being a parrot. Maybe my brother, his dad, should be the parrot.... haha! I can't wait to see pics of the pirate trio.

And just a bit more Halloween goodness... Click this link to get directions from the talented Jennifer Murphy on how to make a Pumpkin Man.

Eucalyptus

Friday, October 17, 2008

Neat eucalyptus earrings from Contagious.

Sorry I've been less than bloggy lately. I'm a bit of a moody blogger, sometimes I'm all about it and then I just can't find the motivation to do it for a while. :)

We watched Iron Man last night for the second time. I like that movie. I think Robert D. Jr. did a surprisingly good job. I didn't expect him to make a good action hero, but he really did.

Owl Cuteness

Cute!

I am loving this flying pig fabric from Superbuzzy. I don't know what I would do with it (especially after trying to bring some order to my pile of fabric that I've yet to do anything with), but I love it!

Acorn Cakelet Pan

Saturday, October 11, 2008

I saw this adorable Acorn Cakelet Pan on Luckybeans and just had to blog about it myself cuz it's so darn cute. I'm loving fall things right now.... I don't know that I would actually MAKE cakelets, but I love the thought of them. :D
And check out this adorable Mary Poppins doll from Heidi Kenney of My Paper Crane. I never cease to be amazed by her creativity!

Just a few clouds in the sky...

My travel hero...

Thursday, October 9, 2008

This is my friend Brian (Big Larr); he is my travel hero. He was just in Mongolia and now he is headed to China. Here he is in Mongolia with some new friends. He's got a silly, charming way about him that draws people to him wherever he may be.

Yaks?
He went from Ulaanbaatar to the sands of the Gobi Desert and back. They rode in a Russian minivan and slept in gers (pictured above I believe?). On the menu for the trip were camel meat, fermented mares milk, dried horse yogurt cubes, and Mongolian vodka. I'm sure a little vodka dims any reticence to try new things. *wink*
Boy these pics make me wanna go somewhere... *sigh* I need to get my travel on!!

Awesome birthday present

Wednesday, October 8, 2008

My older bro called last week to wish me happy birthday and he put his kids on the phone. K (1 yr old) was first and she said "Hap Burt."

Then E (3 yr old) got on, he said, "Happy Birthday." I thanked him and then he told me, "you smell with your nose." I said, "You're right, good job! What do you do with your eyes?" He said, "See" and then he said, "Blink." "I said right! That's good! What do you do with your mouth?" "Talk," he said. He's such a smarty. I asked him who his favorite teacher was (it was Miss W. last weekend) "Miss C.," he says. "What about Miss W?" I say. "Her too," he replies.

K got back on the phone and said, "Happu Burtdee." She is so adorable. I had given her mom a rock that my other nephew J (2 yr old) had given me. She gave it to K to play with and K was saying, MaeMae brought rock, MaeMae rock, MaeMae rock.

Ready for Halloween?

Perhaps you need this cute "Bats in the Belfry" necklace from An Original Jewelry.

Scarab earrings

Belated flower posting

I wanted to post pics of the gilt mirror I altered last week, but I forgot to load the pics. So today I'll show you a day lily picture from the summer. Nice pic if I don't say so myself...

Lake days are winding down...

Thursday, October 2, 2008

C and I went to the lake Saturday. The water was a bit chilly. I would pretty much hop in and hop right out. C apparently thought it was quite humorous. This is just one pic in quite a serious. This is all I'm willing to show though. :)

Sweet Pink Shrug

Great Finds

I haven't even posted my finds from the rummage sale my mom and I went to, but I wanted to post a picture of one of my finds from an estate sale this weekend... The MOOSE cookie jar. This just slays me. I love it. How much did this awesome piece cost me?? $2.50.

Reuse / Redone Furniture

This was the entertainment stand we had in our living room. It is a rickety, junky thing that we weren't sure was going to hold our giant telly. So we went to a thrift store and purchased a $10 desk.

I don't have a true before picture because I kept forgetting to take one, but here is a pic after we've removed all the drawers, doors and doodads. We've also stripped most of the unnatural shellac and stain off by this point. Why would they do that to a perfectly nice piece of wood?

Voila! Finished! Sorry about the light on the screen. Oh and yes, we have bunny ears. :) We refuse to give in and pay for cable. Especially now that you can watch shows on the internet with a lot less commercials, albeit slightly blurry sometimes.
